Research Engineer/Scientist (202205-RD-10)

Location – Newark, CA (San Francisco Bay Area)

Job Description

This position will conduct testing of membranes and modules to quantify and optimize performance of existing and new membrane products. The ability to analyze experimental data, present findings at group meetings, and contribute to project reports is essential. This position includes training in the operation and maintenance of laboratory and field gas separation membrane test systems.

As needed, the Research Engineer/Scientist will travel to test facilities to support membrane system field operations. Current locations are scattered throughout the continental U.S. and estimated annual travel time is <10%.
Requirements

A BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field is required. No experience is necessary, although prior work with membranes separations is beneficial. Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to work both independently and closely with other team members to achieve group goals is a must.

Salary Range:
Salary ranges for MTR positions are dependent on the level of education, number of years of relevant experience the candidate has, and what other MTR employees in similar positions with a similar skill set are earning. We estimate the range for this position to be between $89,200 – $110,100.

Sales Engineer

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Petrochemical Director, the Sales Engineer is primarily responsible for designing and selling MTR’s customized systems. Responsibilities include simulating processes, sizing equipment, getting quotes, estimating total job costs and preparing proposals; developing leads, qualifying inquiries; developing PFDs, P&IDs and control narratives; process optimization. The Sales Engineer will interface with MTR’s customers and vendors, make sales calls as a team with other MTR employees, make presentations to customers, take feedback from customers and make modifications to proposals.

Requirements:
This position requires a BS in chemical engineering or a related science and some prior work experience (one to two years) is preferred. In addition, knowledge of the petrochemical, natural gas and refining industries is a plus.

Membrane Technician

Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Membrane Lead, the Membrane Technician performs tasks related in assisting Membrane Lead in developing new membrane as well as scaling up membrane production.  This position is also responsible for the maintenance and operation of the equipment required to accomplish this.  The Membrane Technician must use laboratory equipment, such as, balances/scales, stir plates, and fume hoods to prepare and dispense solutions for coating membrane. The Membrane Technician must also be able to operate the large roll-to-roll equipment used for coating the membrane. The Membrane Technician is responsible for collecting and recording relevant data from the operation of that equipment.

Requirements:
This position requires: AA or BS degree; ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; basic computer skills (Excel); attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness. A minimum of one-year prior experience in a research or manufacturing environment.

Salary Range:

Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Responsible for general maintenance of all facilities, manufacturing and R&D equipment. Maintain facilities in good working order, including lighting. Coordinate activities of outsourced maintenance services where needed. Perform painting, light bulb replacement, carpentry and other projects relating to maintenance of the interior property and external storage facilities. Follow safe work practices and remain current with OSHA standards for maintenance activities. Assist in the development and implementation of Safe Maintenance Practices. Assist in the development and maintenance of LOTO procedures for all existing equipment and equipment additions. Perform repairs on electrical systems ranging from 12 VDC to 480 VAC 3-phase. Maintain mechanical systems including, pneumatic, hydraulic and vacuum systems.

Requirements

High school education or GED equivalent. Minimum of three years experience working in a maintenance capacity on production manufacturing equipment. Experience using a multimeter and interpreting schematic diagrams to troubleshoot electrical systems. Knowledge of safety hazards of working with electrical systems. Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings. Knowledge of simple plumbing repairs including faucets and toilets. Knowledge of pump, fan and compressor mechanics sufficient to troubleshoot and make repairs.

Special Skills

Ability to troubleshoot analytical instruments and interpret PLC logic.
